Disney sells Milk House naming rights to HP Mon, 02 Aug 2010 ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex (DISNEY)
Walt Disney World has sold the naming rights to one of the main venues at its ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to Hewlett-Packard, as part of a new sponsorship agreement with the Palo Alto, Calif.-based PC maker.
The 70,000-square foot Milk House will be renamed with the HP brand and receive a number of high-tech updates, under the deal, including an “HP creation zone” where athletes and attendees will be able to design and download images of their events and print them onsite. There will also be a retail area peddling various imaging-related products such as life-size posters of event photos, customized wallpaper coverings and various photo keepsakes.
HP also becomes the “official imaging, printing and PC partner” at Wide World of Sports. The companies didn’t disclose the terms of the deal.
Disney and HP have a lengthy sponsorship history together. The computer manufacturer also underwrites the Mission: Space thrill-ride at Epcot and it is one of the sponsors of the Disneyland Dream Home at Disneyland. Disney, meanwhile, says it is one of HP’s largest customers, using “thousands” of HP business PCs, servers and printers, in addition to other services.
