Goodbye to the Power Rangers at Hollywood Studios Sun, 08 Aug 2010I swung by Disney’s Hollywood Studios Saturday to bid farewell to the Power Rangers. The defenders of good are heading back to the Ranger academy, according to cast members on duty, and Saturday was their last day to appear at the Studios’ New York Street area.
There was a good-sized crowd when I saw them. Someone had thoughtfully brought a bouquet of yellow roses for the yellow Ranger. Another fan had made posters, one proclaiming “Power rangers, we’ll miss you.” Some guys in old-school “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” t-shirts were taking pictures.
And, as with any Disney final day of anything, a lot of off-duty cast members were buzzing around, taking last-minute photos and catching up with old friends.
I was not of the right age to fully embrace Power Ranger mania. They rose to prominence after I lost interest in such programs. But I always did like their meet-and-greets. In their souped-up Ranger car, they had a great entrance. And then the way they taught kids (and adults) who lined up for their autographs some of their signature poses was always fun to watch or try. The kids seemed totally engrossed in it.
It was a nice touch that on their last day of appearing — Disney no longer holds the rights to the franchise — their final poses before getting into their car served as a curtain call of sorts.
And we may not have seen the last of them in Central Florida. Nickelodeon will be airing new episodes of the series so they might someday pop up at Universal Studios.
Disney Tickets Cheap - You probably already knows that Disney does things very professionally. That also means very expensively. You really can get cheap Disney tickets. But you must do your research before you leave for your holiday.
