Magic Kingdom parade changes: Tiana, Naveen in to boost finale float Mon, 09 Aug 2010We’re told changes to the afternoon parade at Disney’s Magic Kingdom will take place beginning today, including the addition of Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen from Disney’s Princess and the Frog.
The parade has undergone a few revamps since the name was changed to the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade and the music was changed in January of 2009.
After disappointment that fewer characters were seen during the parade — which was very heavy on generic dancers — more characters were dispersed among the different sections of the parade. However, the Villains float was removed completely from the parade. Later, the show stops — which featured more dancing to the “Celebrate You” theme song of Disney’s “What Will You Celebrate?” marketing campaign — were eliminated.
The current changes would boost the character factor on the parade’s finale float — the silver castle float that has been in every Magic Kingdom parade for a decade or more.
I’m told only Cinderella and Prince Charming will appear with the Fairy Godmother in the “princess section” of the parade, and only the Cinderella section of that multi-unit float will be used. (It has been repainted to better match the rest of the parade floats).
The other princes and princesses from that section — Belle and Beast, Ariel and Eric — will move to the finale float and be joined by Tiana and Naveen.
